Future directions in health and fitness

Roy J. Shephard

pp. 1065-1077

However, the big challenge for the next generation of Exercise Scientists will be to find ways of matching this with a corresponding development of fitness, so that longevity yields a corresponding increase in quality-adjusted and active life expectancies. Major sport events will also face increasingly critical analysis of their costs in relation to possible gains of population fitness and health.
