There can be little doubt that Hans Jonas is among the pioneers in the philosophy of technology. That is commendable. But what is amazing in the light of the clearly obvious impact of technological culture, is that philosophy as a whole, as a discipline which prides itself in its comprehensiveness, its critical acumen and its claim to deal with the most profound human, social and value questions, should have taken until now to develop a philosophy of technology.
