Les noms d’humains généraux
contribution à la différenciation noms sous spécifiés/noms généraux

L’objectif de cet article est de contribuer à la réflexion sur les noms dits généraux vs sous spécifiés par le biais des noms d’humains dits généraux (homme, individu, personne, …) généralement écartés du débat. Nous comparons ces trois sous-catégories nominales sur la base de critères peu usités dans la littérature les concernant : outre celui de l’usage et de la fréquence, nous les différencions sur la base de leur degré d’abstraction, des variations sémantiques qu’elles manifestent selon les genres discursifs et leurs fonctions discursives ainsi qu’en fonction de leur potentiel de construction et de grammaticalisation. Nous démontrons ainsi que seuls certains emplois de ces noms qu’ils soient NHG, NG ou Nss, font « office de » NG, Nss, etc.
