Ce numéro thématique de Corela est dédié à l’expression de l’espace en français, et vise plus largement la question du rapport entre langage et cognition. Nous l’avons conçu comme un écho au numéro « Espace, Préposition, Cognition – Hommage à Claude Vandeloise », paru en 2010. Cette problématique est abordée à travers une série d’études sur des marques linguistiques dont certaines sont considérées comme ‘typiquement’ spatiales (prépositions simples et complexes, adverbes et adverbiaux) et d’autres comme n’étant pas particulièrement liées à l’expressionde l’espace (par exemple les noms d’événements). En adoptant une perspective résolument unilingue, les travaux réunis ici suggèrent d’une part qu’il n’y a pas de marqueurs ‘purement spatiaux’, d’autre part que certaines expressions réputées ‘non spatiales’ ne sont pas aussi détachées de l’espace que la tradition le prétend.
