In diesem Kapitel geht es um erkenntnistheoretische Positionen, die sich auf Ideen stützen, welche Ludwig Wittgenstein in seinen postum unter dem Titel »Über Gewissheit« veröffentlichten Notizen entwickelt hat. Neben dem von Wittgenstein in ÜberGewissheit entwickelten Ansatz soll mit der kontextualistischen Theorie der Rechtfertigung von Michael Williams exemplarisch eine Position vorgestellt werden, die als eine besonders ausgefeilte Ausarbeitung von Wittgensteins Ideen gelten kann. (Als weitere Vorläufer von Williams ’ Position können Sellars 1963 und 1997 sowie Goodman 1983 gelten. Zumindest Sellars’ Position ist ihrerseits ebenfalls stark von Wittgenstein inspiriert.
