pp. 155-176

Chapter Eight gives consideration to those trends within contemporary neuroscience that support the empirical findings and global viewpoint of the text. The reader is introduced to several currents of neuroscience that have turned their attention to issues like learning, motivation, affect, creativity, self-development, and the social context of neurological functioning. These currents include dynamic systems neuroscience, neurophenomenology and enactive neuroscience, social-cognitive and existential neuroscience, neuroanthropology and cultural neuroscience, neuropsychoanalysis, affective neuroscience, and interpersonal neurobiology.
